Botanical Medicine in the Annapolis Valley

Connect deeply with the world of local edible and medicinal plants at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens at Acadia University with Benna, a 5th generation Nova Scotian, Registered Herbalist and Biologist. Engage your senses to uncover clues about herbal uses in this hands-on experience. Embark on this embodied way to learn about plants and connect with them.
Highlights:
- Enjoy freshly foraged tea and feel grounded by the aroma and taste of the local plants while your host Benna shares the local story of the area.
- Walk through the beautiful gardens and woodlands at Acadia University where you will move through your senses, meeting plants and learning about some of their medicinal uses.
- Learn about wild harvesting protocols and the practice of honorable harvest.
- Learn about herbal medicine directly from the plants with guided sensory exploration
- Create an age-old preparation of oxymels. This sweet and tart herbal preparation, made with local honey and apple cider vinegar will be yours to take home.
