The Spinney Brothers Bluegrass Band and Brookes Diamond Productions present a special 35th Anniversary Hometown Performance on Saturday May 25 at the Festival Theatre, 504 Main St, Wolfville, at 7 pm.
It’s been 8 long years since the Spinney Brothers have performed live in their hometown of Wolfville and according to Rick Spinney “We are so excited to be planning an incredible evening of timeless music, captivating storytelling, and special guest performers, along with brand new tunes. It’s a night you won’t want to miss.”
The Spinney Brothers Bluegrass Band have played a prominent role in the Canadian Bluegrass scene since their debut in the Annapolis Valley 35 years ago. Brothers Allan Spinney on guitar and vocals and Rick Spinney on banjo and vocals, are joined by long-time bandmates Gary Dalrymple on mandolin and Terry Mumford on bass. Known as Canada’s International Bluegrass Band, they feature a tight brother duet vocal style that has been lauded for its energetic and distinctive sound. The group has released 12 albums, including four very successful releases on Mountain Fever Records. The brothers charted four number one hits and have been honoured with countless awards throughout their long career.
The show will also feature opening act Lucas Whitehead, a 17-year-old rising bluegrass star who has been winning awards for his singing and playing since he was 7 years old.
