The University’s Safety & Security Team conducts patrols of our facilities on a routine basis. Patrols document offences and ensure that Acadia policies and procedures are followed, at all times.
Event Security
Safety and Security, and our Campus Patrol Team provide security and parking services for events occurring on campus, including sporting event and competition, concerts, and other licenced/non-licenced events. For licenced events, we require a minimum of one security staff for every 100 visitors. To add security detail to your event, please email our Events Lead.
In an emergency, call 911. Our Safety & Security Team has a 911 monitoring system, in place, on campus. All calls placed to 911, on campus (from a 585 – exchange telephone), send a signal to the Safety & Security Office, so that they can identify the location of the call, and respond to the emergency situation, immediately.
The Acadia University Campus Patrol is a team of students who work with Safety & Security’s full-time shift staff to ensure the safety of those visiting and staying on Campus. These students conduct nightly walking patrols of the accommodations buildings to ensure that Acadia University policies are enforced, and visitors are safe. The Campus Patrol assist shift staff in dealing with emergency situations, such as crowd control, building evacuations, and medical emergencies.
Safety and Security has several alarm monitoring systems in place. If a fire alarm, intrusion alarm, or panic button is activated, the Safety & Security Team will receive a signal, and emergency procedures will be activated.
